Wagyu burgers

By
Blurbme.com Editorial

When is a beef burger not just a beef burger? When it’s a Wagyu beef burger. Forget your garden-variety burgers or even those made with prime chopped sirloin. You haven’t lived till you’ve had Wagyu. Period.

picYou can now sink your teeth into these gourmet burgers, which are usually topped with equally gourmet extras such as foie gras and black truffles. You can enjoy these marvels at One Ninety at the Four Seasons Hotel and Brown Sugar Café Bistro.

If you fancy getting a couple of wagyu burgers for free, pop on down to Superfamous, a bistro located next to OCBC Centre. During happy hour from 5 pm to 7 pm every weekday, you’ll get a complimentary mini wagyu burger with every drink ordered. But if one or two mouthfuls aren’t enough to tame stomach cravings, order it as a main course where it comes topped with caramelized onions and aioli with fries on the side.

But be warned: once you’ve succumbed to the gastronomic delights of a Wagyu burger, there’s no turning back. MacDonald’s and Burger King will never taste the same again.

Spotlight On The Best Loos

By
Blurbme.com Editorial

In a country that has often been called to task for questionable loos, it’s nice to know that efforts have been quietly made to raise the standards of Singapore’s public toilets. From indifferent, utilitarian and sometimes stinking closets, there are now some bright stars in the local toilet scene.

We all know the 4, 5 and 6-star hotels have some of the best toilets around. I love the ones at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia and The Raffles Hotel for their understated elegance and eat-off-the-floor cleanliness amidst gilt fixtures and marble surrounds. I always leave feeling a tad guilty for having to go in such a posh place!

However one shining star has cast back the shadows of public toilet nightmares and led the way for the rest: the award-winning toilets at the Singapore Zoological Gardens. Get close to nature here but without the use of banana leaf wipes. You see, part of one side is opened to a lush garden of flowers and heavy foliage. A high fence of rattan shields you from prying eyes.

Another gem are the loos at The Jewel Box on Mount Faber. Imagine washing your hands in front of a floor to ceiling window and watching cable cars fly by. I hear the view of the harbour is even better at night!
